History of food in Hawaii |
With the diversification of our aina came the modernisation of our island cuisine. With the introduction of immigrants for labor in the sugar cane, coffee, and pineapple feilds came lots of brand new influences not only on our food but on our culture as a whole. Dishes from China, Japan, Pourtagul, the Philippines, and even Europe became widely popular in the islands and have become a part of our most famouse trade mark foods. Take malasadas for example, those are a dish from Pourtagul. This is just 1 of many reasons why we as a people are the embodiment of the melting pot of the world.

Nitrogen CycleNitrogen in the atmosphere is captured by bacteria/microorganisms then turned into nutrients in the ground. these nitrogen molecules are absorbed by plants and used in photosynthesis. Then the nitrogen is passed on to animals and broken down by the consumer or put back in the ground as a by product. Then it is eventually released back into the atmosphere.(The Nitrogen cycle, Kahn Academy)

The oxygen cycle is the most elementry of the cycles but quite possibly the most important. Nitrogen emisions from animals and humans gets absorbed by plants to be used in photosynthisis. One of the by products of photosythesis from plants and algae is oxygen that goes into the atmosphere. That oxygen is then breathed in by animals and humans and then the cycle begins again.
Oxygen Cycle |
Carbon CyclesCarbon dioxide in the atmosphesre disolves in water and reactes with it to produce bicorbonate. Bicorbonate is then taken by alge and plants and converted into organic molecules that are used through out the food chains and is slowly reverted back into Carbon dioxide.
